This Custom Family Crest Signet Ring was created for a client who wanted to honor their heritage by incorporating their family crest into a classic signet-style ring.

The Client’s Vision
The client came to us with a special request: to create a family crest signet ring using an existing family heirloom ring as the foundation. The original ring held great sentimental value, but its design featured diamonds set into the top surface, which prevented the crest from being engraved in the traditional signet style.
The goal was to transform the ring into a timeless family crest ring, while preserving as much of the original piece as possible.
Preparing the Heirloom Ring
The first step in the process was carefully modifying the original ring. Our jewelers began by removing the diamonds that were set in the top portion of the ring. This delicate work ensured the stones could be safely removed without compromising the integrity of the ring itself.
Once the diamonds were removed, we fabricated a solid gold plate that was custom-fit to the top of the ring. This plate provided a smooth, durable surface that would serve as the foundation for the engraved family crest.
Capturing the Family Crest
The client provided the family crest from an unexpected but meaningful source—a ceramic bell that displayed the crest design. Because the artwork was not in a digital format, our team carefully photographed the crest to capture the details as clearly as possible.
From that image, we created a clean vector rendering of the crest. This process allowed us to refine the lines, remove visual inconsistencies, and prepare the design so it could be engraved with precision.
Engraving the Crest
Once the vector artwork was finalized, the crest was engraved onto the solid gold plate that had been fitted into the ring. This ensured the details of the family symbol were crisp, balanced, and proportionally correct for the size of the ring.
The engraving transformed the piece into a traditional signet ring, where the crest stands proudly as the centerpiece.
The Finished Piece
The completed Family Crest Signet Ring successfully blended heritage with craftsmanship. By repurposing the heirloom ring, fabricating a custom gold plate, and engraving the family crest, the project preserved the sentimental value of the original jewelry while creating a refined and meaningful new design.
